General Description:
ABOUT THE JOB
Under the supervision of the Senior Assistant Director of IT oversees the operation of and management of the Boston housing Authority's ("BHA") Data Center hardware and software, Headquarters and Colocation Local Area Network (LAN), VMware virtual and physical infrastructure and VoIP PBX administration. The Data Services Administrator is responsible for the day-to­day performance, integrity, security and reliability of all BHA data center services as well as the daily administration of the BHA's VoIP PBX system. The Data Center Services Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day back-up and recovery of servers and user data. The Data Center Services Administrator will support the Senior Assistant Director of IT in setting strategy and creating and implementing plans for the future configuration of the BHA data center, network and telephony solutions. In addition, the Data Center Services Administrator will work with BHA staff to analyze their computing needs and for developing solutions to fit those needs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Oversee the data services of the BHA's Chauncy St. data center as well as the BHA's Andover Tier Point colocation data center/disaster recovery site and services
• Install, configure and manage data center hardware and software
• Manage and maintain the virtual VDI environment host hardware and storage SAN
• Manage and maintain virtual and physical data center networks including but not limited to the Headquarters LAN
• Administer and maintain the BHA's Data Domain and software back-up systems
• Administer and maintain the BHA's Mitel Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) PBX
• Administer and maintain the BHA's fax server
• Coordinate with vendors for annual support for both software and hardware
• Provide desktop support and provide Help Desk coverage as needed
• Responds to system problems and restores system functions as required
• Participates in BHA training as necessary
• Works with staff and vendors to implement upgrades
• Provide change management and documentation as required
• Works well independently and as a member of a team
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications & Experience: A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related subject and/or equivalent work experience preferred. At least 5 to 8 years hands-on experience working with VMware, Wintel area networks. Must possess strong communication skills and user support abilities as well as work well independently as well as part of the IT team. A valid Massachusetts driver's license is required.servers and PCs; including Windows PC and server operating systems, networking and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) preferably for a large enterprise or public organization. Experience with Cisco routers and switches, SQL, Veeam, Back-up Exec and storage.
