General Description:

ABOUT THE JOB:
Under the supervision of the Accounting Area Supervisor, and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and practices, the bookkeeper will assist the accountants in the recording, reconciling and auditing of accounting data, the processing of financial transactions and the closing of program accounts.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Reconcile bank statements for operating and investment accounts.
• Propose journal entries to correct variances associated with reconciled bank statements.
• Post sub-ledger transactions involving subsidy, cash receipts, inventory, disbursements and/or accounts payable and receivable to general ledger.
• Maintain contract payment ledgers and approves payments associated with contracts.
• Review accuracy of accounts payable invoice entry, including invoice date, vendor, amount and general ledger coding.
• Process entries for utility accruals, interest and subsidy payments.
• Track laundry fund and tenant participation fund activity.
• Record revenue and expense activity to the general ledger based on 3rd party management company reporting.
• Assist in the entry of regulatory reporting for City, State and Federal funders.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience: Candidates must possess either an Associates or Bachelor’s degree in accounting from a recognized institution or possess an accounting certificate with three years’ work experience. Candidates should be self-motivated, independently prioritizing work and meeting deadlines. They must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, have a positive attitude, foster strong relationships with their peers, pay attention to detail and understand the components of financial reporting.
