Join the BHA Youth Council
Are you a young person living in Boston Public Housing or using a housing voucher? Do you want to make a real difference in your community?
The BHA Youth Council is a group of 15–20 young leaders from across Boston who work directly with BHA leadership to improve life for youth in our communities. Any resident aged 15-19 can apply!
Why Join?
We are building the next generation of community leaders. As a council member, you will:
-
Be the Voice for Youth: Tell BHA administration what matters to you and your peers.
-
Grow Your Leadership Skills: Participate in workshops to build your confidence and public speaking skills.
-
Connect with Your Community: Host events, visit youth centers, and collaborate with adult resident leaders.
-
Create Real Change: Work on a hands-on project during your term, planning community events, launching surveys, or creating public art installations.
-
Represent Boston: Meet with other youth councils across the city and speak at public events.
How It Works
-
Afterschool work: Participate in civically focused paid part-time jobs with other Boston youth.
-
Community Collaboration: Connect with local resident taskforces and the Resident Advisory Board at least twice a year.
-
Annual Public Event: Help host at least one major public event each year to showcase the council's hard work and youth priorities.
