Local Tenant Organizations

The soul of a community is its devoted volunteer organizations. Local Tenant Organizations (LTOs), also known as Resident/Tenant Task Forces, are just that – volunteer organizations at many public housing developments.

LTO officers are elected by other residents and take an active role in their housing communities. LTO members:

  • Keep residents informed of improvements, operations and management.

  • Work closely with management to bring social and recreational programs to their community.

  • Provide feedback and input on policies and procedures to management.

LTOs are governed by Boston Housing Authority’s Resident Participation Policy and many have their own set of bylaws as well. The updated Tenant Participation Policy will be soon be available in Spanish.

See a list of LTOs at Family sites here, Elderly/Disabled sites here, and Mixed Finance sites here

If you are a public housing resident and interested in getting involved or starting a task force at your site, please email or call us 617-988-5222.
