Northeastern University BHA Scholars Program

The BHA is excited to partner with Boston's own Northeastern University to offer a full-tuition scholarship for BHA Public Housing residents (including Hope VI Sites).  Unfortunately, at this time voucher/leased housing residents are not eligible.

Check out this informational flyer in english y en español.

The scholarship is available to recent high-school graduates looking for a traditional undergraduate bachelor's degree program, or students of any age interested in a bachelor's completion program through the College of Professional Studies (CPS).  CPS offers flexible options for learners, including online and evening class options, and fall, spring, summer start dates.  The CPS application process is explained here, and you can reach out to  Evan Grenier, Director of Undergraduate Admissions for the College of Professional Studies, by email with any questions.

To receive a verification letter to apply for the scholarship you must do the following, in this order:

Step 1: Apply to Northeastern using their standard application process, including any supplemental academic or financial documents they request.

Step 2: After submitting your application, email Sahar Lawrence to request the Landlord Verification Letter or call (617) 988-4169 with this information:

  • Student Name

  • Head of Household Name

  • Address including apartment number

  • Date of Birth

  • Email address — please make sure that this email address is accurate since BHA and Northeastern will be communicating with you about the scholarship via email.

  • Phone number

  • The Application Tracking Number from Northeastern University

Note: This letter must be submitted within 1 month of when you submit your Admissions Application, so reach out to Sahar Lawrence immediately after applying.

Step 3: BHA will verify that you are eligible and will email the Verification Letter directly to Northeastern. You will also receive a copy of the letter for your files. You do not need to submit the letter to Northeastern.
