General Community Meeting

As you may know, the BHA published a report in 2007 titled “An Approach to Preservation: Repositioning Boston’s Public Housing for the Future.” (The report can be read on our website at the following link: http://www.bostonhousing.org/detpages/deptinfo165.html). The report included several initiatives the BHA was exploring to bring additional funding to the agency to perform critically needed capital repairs throughout the BHA’s public housing developments. One of those initiatives included transferring a small number of federally funded elderly/disabled public housing developments from the public housing program to the federally funded project-based Housing Choice Voucher Program(Section 8). The BHA is about to begin a public process regarding this type of transfer for Lower Mills and Heritage.
