The Boston Housing Authority is the largest landlord in Boston and the largest public housing authority in New England. As such, the BHA houses approximately 10 percent of the city's residents through its programs. In addition to providing conventional public housing, the Boston Housing Authority also provides affordable housing through the administration of several rental assistance programs. These programs include the federal Section 8 Voucher Program, as well as the state funded Massachusetts Rental Voucher Program that is overseen by the Department of Housing and Community Development. The BHA's state and federal portfolio and rental assistance programs make it one of the top ten largest housing authorities in the nation. To apply for housing, click here. And don’t forget to “like” the Boston Housing Authority on your own Facebook page: 2012 Housing Authority Insurance Group Scholarship The Resident Scholarship Program, sponsored by Housing Authority Insurance, Incorporated, provides residents of member public housing authorities with scholarships to help them attend college. By completing the application and providing the required supporting materials, residents who have resided in public or Section 8 housing since at least August 1, 2011, can be entered into a lottery for a chance to be awarded one of 40 scholarships worth $2,500 each. If you are a high school senior, a current college student, or an adult with a high school diploma or GED, have a GPA of at least 2.5, are a resident of Boston Housing Authority and are a U.S. citizen—you may qualify.
