Welcome to South Street.

15 St. Rose Street #644, Jamaica Plain

South Street is a small, welcoming community that offers a variety of living arrangements for low- and moderate-income individuals and families. South Street offers 131 units, ranging from one to four bedrooms. Originally built to provide housing for war veterans and their families, South Street is home to a diverse group of families and elderly residents. Located in a diverse section of Jamaica Plain, South Street benefits from the interest, assistance and involvement of its neighbors and residents. Rents are calculated at 32% of a resident’s income.

Location:

South Street is located in Jamaica Plain, with many shops and restaurants within walking distance. These include a laundromat, an electronics store, a dollar store, a men’s clothing store, a supermarket, banking services, postal services, drug store, the Goodwill and other thrift shops.  There are many churches in the area as well.  The Mary Curley Middle School and English High School are nearby.  Health care is available at Faulkner Hospital or at the Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center.

Transportation:

Public transportation via buses that stop right outside the complex provides transport to the Forest Hills MBTA station for access to the Orange Line.  At Forest Hills, many connections can be made by bus or Commuter Rail.  In the other direction, the #39 bus proceeds through Jamaica Plain, up Huntington Avenue to the Prudential Center and Copley Square.
