The Whittier Street housing development is currently being redeveloped through a federal Choice Neighborhoods Initiatives grant.  More details can be found on the Whittier Choice website.

Whittier offers a variety of living arrangements for low- and moderate-income individuals and families in both low- and mid-rise buildings. Whittier offers 200 units, ranging from one to four bedroom apartments. Rents are calculated at 30% of a resident’s income. Residents have the option of choosing a flat rent as well.

Location:

Whittier is located in Lower Roxbury near the South End, near a pharmacy and church. Many other businesses, including a Super Stop & Shop, can be accessed at nearby Jackson Square. In addition, the Boston Police Headquarters is across the street and the Reggie Lewis Track and Field Center is nearby. Health care is available nearby at the recently renovated Whittier Street Health Center.

Transportation:

The Ruggles Street MBTA station is directly across the street from the front of the complex.  Residents may access the Orange Line, Commuter Rail and numerous bus lines including the Silver Line from the station.
