West Newton offers a variety of living arrangements for low- and moderate-income individuals and families in the urban setting of the South End. Built in the late 1800s, the apartments are located in historic brownstone buildings. The complex offers 133 units, ranging from studios to four-bedroom apartments. The management and maintenance offices for this complex, as well as for Rutland/East Springfield Street apartments, are located at the West Newton site. West Newton is known as one of the BHA’s scattered site properties. Rents are calculated at 30% of a resident’s income. Residents have the option of choosing a flat rent as well.

Location:

West Newton is located in the South End Historic District. Many businesses and services are located within walking distance and include ethnic restaurants, markets, pharmacies and more. Several elementary schools are located in the neighborhood and several churches are a few minutes walk away. Health care is available nearby at the South End Community Health Center and at the nearby Boston Medical Center.

Transportation:

West Newton is easily reached by public transportation via the MBTA's Silver Line Service, and 43 Bus line or by walking to Back Bay Station, which connects to the MBTA’s Orange Line.  The Commuter Rail is accessible at Back Bay as well.
