General Description: Under the supervision of the Communication Director, the Communications Assistant will assist the Director with a number of tasks which must be performed by the Department on a regular basis.
Duties & Responsibilities: - Maintaining and updating both the internal and external web sites.
- Researching, writing, editing and overseeing distribution of the BHA Today newsletter
- Compiling information and writing the employee Weekly Bulletin
- Responding to media and other information requests
- Writing and sending press release and stories about the BHA to media outlets
- Assisting the Communication Director with work related to the Communications and customer Service committees.
- Tracking, copying and keeping files of all BHA related news articles
- General office duties such as copying, filing, faxing, etc.
- Assisting the Communications Director with special projects, covering BHA events, taking photos and completing various information-gathering tasks.
- Furthering the goals of the Communication Department to provide positive public relations/information for those with whom the BHA comes in contact
- Receptionist coverage of the front desk during lunch and/or as directed.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience: A Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or similar field. The position requires excellent oral and written communication skills. The use of computer skills related to word processing, graphic design and web updating. The need to have the ability to research and write newsletters and other stories, also the ability to compile information and research requests for information. Using the ability to compile information and research requests for information with the ability and desire to work in a diverse environment. To be able to work independently and to tackle new tasks and projects and to organize and complete multiple tasks in order of importance and by deadline.
