General Description: Reporting to the General Counsel or designee, performs research and investigation for attorneys as requested. Handles the day-to-day inquiries of tenants and BHA staff with regard to legal proceedings brought by the Authority.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Communicates routinely with management personnel on the status of BHA litigation and responds to questions from both management and tenants regarding such litigation.
  • Prepares all necessary materials for and communicates regularly with constable.
  • Compiles material for and regularly reviews records of evictions, injunctions and civil and criminal matters both in litigation and completed by the Legal Department.
  • Compiles statistics on matters from database or other sources.
  • Oversees the administration handling of non-payment eviction cases.
  • Prepares cases for litigation by compiling all necessary materials, filing the necessary forms of motions, briefs, and discovery and attends court proceedings.
  • Performs general research and writes memoranda on various issues.
  • Reviews constable billings.
  • Maintains files and records of legal cases with the Legal Department.
  • Prepares regular written reports on status of cases.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


  • Minimum Qualifications & Experience: Paralegal degree from an accredited institution of higher learning, or the equivalent in the form of credits toward a law degree, or practical experience working in a law-related office. Paralegal experience in the field of litigation preferred. Good written/oral communication skills.
