General Description: Under the supervision of the General Counsel the Evictions Investigator Paralegal provides investigation and coordination support to Public Safety/ Legal/ Management Departments to prepare and try eviction and other civil litigation arising out of drug and related criminal activity by BHA tenants, staff and others, on or off BHA property.

Duties & Responsibilities: ·Coordinates communication with BHA staff such as managers, lawyers, senior and Civil Rights department staff, Public Safety investigators, and other law enforcement entities regarding drug and related criminal activities by BHA tenants, or in regard to BHA property. ·Investigates facts, obtains appropriate documents, interviews potential witnesses. ·Assists with investigation and preparation of Public Safety investigators’ testimony and of evidentiary materials, also assist with preparation of responses to discovery requests in civil litigation, attends discovery proceedings as appropriate. ·Tracks cases from original event to completion of enforcement action, including reports to development managers, initiation of legal action, preparation of court case and other appropriate follow-up. Maintains consistent communication between managers and Public Safety investigators and attorneys regarding case development. ·Assists in trial preparation of witnesses and documentary evidence, testifies and attends as appropriate. ·Prepares computer reports and materials as requested. ·Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience: Four-year college degree or graduation from accredited training institution or equivalent practical experience. Two to three years experience in work involving law enforcement and procedures, knowledge of law enforcement agencies. Computer, research, and excellent writing skills required. Familiarity with civil litigation and landlord-tenant law preferred.
