General Description: Under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources, is responsible for the effective operation of the Human Resources Department. Provides administrative and clerical skills as required by the job. Frequently must use independent judgement and planning to relieve the Director of many routine administrative matters. Must work independently, requiring minimum supervision and guidance.

Duties & Responsibilities: · Performs administrative duties for the Director, drafting correspondence, maintaining confidential and important files, typing documents and correspondence often of a confidential nature. · Directs the receiving and processing of telephone calls, overall correspondence, and visitors to appropriate persons. · Compiles and analyzes data for use in reports, estimates and budgets. · Processes invoices, and carries out special projects. · Coordinates all details involving New Hire Orientation sessions. · Receives and processes all departmental purchase requisitions. · Assists in the preparation and monitoring of departmental budget records. · Supervises the maintenance of all contracts pertaining to office services and equipment as well as the ordering and distribution of office supplies. · Researches and resolves benefits/compensation issues for employees at the direction of the Benefits Manager or the Human Resources Specialist. · Develops and maintains relationships and communicates regularly with unions and other agencies. · Assists in the administration of training programs, employee relations, and grievance proceedings. · Assists in the preparation of confidential materials/reports required for the collective bargaining process. · Performs other office duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience: High school diploma or GED is required. Bachelor’s degree with a specialization in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field is preferred. Must have the ability to perform administrative tasks and be able to handle a heavy workload, independently prioritizing work and meeting deadlines. Good interpersonal skills and a demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication is essential. Familiarity and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office package is required. A minimum of five (5) years experience administering office functions is required. Individual should be comfortable working in a busy and diverse office environment; and have the ability to work well with staff as well as the public.
