General Description: Under the general supervision of the Program Director of Resident Services and the Assistant Director for the Elderly & Disabled Housing Program, provides training and support for Housing Managers, office support staff, and Resident Custodians around client issues that are impacting their tenancies and their ability to live independently. Perform resident assessments, knowledge of local social services delivery system for elderly and disabled populations required. Experience with mental health with an emphasis on substance abuse. Assist Program Director with the creation and implementation of training and professional development opportunities and programs for Resident Services Coordinators and management staff. Grant writing experiences a must.
Duties & Responsibilities: ·Supervises and trains Resident Services Coordinators and interns.
·Collaborates with the property manager and on-site staff to address the needs of tenants at risk of eviction due to lease violations resulting from mental illness.
·Provides assessment, outreach, and crisis intervention advocacy to residents and linkage to necessary services.
·Provides technical assistance to property managers.
·Provides assistance to resident task forces while communicating to residents both elderly and disabled.
·Attends task force and management meetings upon request.
·Meets regularly with manager to discuss referral and other tenant initiatives.
·Develops and assists other Resident Service Coordinators in establishing human service teams consisting of local social service providers from appropriate service delivery systems, along with property manager(s), who will meet on a regular basis to provide necessary assistance in addressing specific needs of elderly and disabled residents.
·Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience: MSW with three (3) years experience working with elderly and people with disabilities Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. The ability to work in a public housing setting and nights and weekends when needed is a necessity.
