Rental Assistance Voucher Transfers

How to transfer a Section 8 Voucher

Rental assistance voucher holders who wish to move to Boston should do the following.

Ask the housing authority that administers the voucher to send by mail or fax a copy of your voucher and portability package to:

In addition to the copy of the voucher, the portability package should include copies of social security cards and birth certificates for all family members as well as Form 52665 (portability form) and Form 50058 (family report form).

Once the BHA receives your portability package, please call(617)988-4409 to schedule an appointment. Please make sure to include your contact information with all correspondence.

At the time of the appointment, you will need to bring updated income information and evidence of eligible immigration status (.pdf).
