Welcome to Washington Manor Apartments. We are pleased that you are considering our community for your future home.
Washington Manor is a warm, welcoming community that offers a variety of living arrangements for low- and moderate-income elderly and disabled persons. Washington Manor offers approximately 77 efficiency and one- bedroom apartments in an eight-story, elevator-equipped building. Built in 1973, Washington Manor ƒ{ along with Frederick Douglass and Hampton House ƒ{ is one of the ¡§Three Sisters,¡¨ so named because they are identical in design and structure.
We offer many amenities for elderly and disabled individuals, which include emergency pull cords in the bedrooms and bathrooms as well as intercoms in every apartment. We have units that are handicap accessible and we may modify existing apartments based on Reasonable Accommodation requests.
Residents pay 30 percent of their income towards rent, prorated rent, or a predetermined flat rent.
Amory Street employs a professional management team that promptly responds to all resident needs in a timely manner. The staff includes:
- Manager
- Management Aide
- Resident Service Coordinator
- Two resident custodians
The BHA¡¦s Elderly and Disabled Resident Service Coordinators have been trained to:
- perform need assessments and
make appropriate referrals for
services
- access services to enhance tenancy and independent life
- coordinate services for home
bound frail elderly/disabled
- help residents to access services
that enhance quality of life
- assist in crisis intervention with tenants at risk
- advocate and liaison with
management, family, health providers and community agencies.

Location |
Washington Manor is located in Roxbury, with a variety of stores and services close by in the surrounding community. There are a number of churches in the area as well. Health care is available at the nearby Boston Medical Center and the South End Community Health Center is next door. Also, in the vicinity of the complex is the Blackstone Park and Community Center.
Public transportation is easily accessible with a MBTA Silver Line bus stop located in front of the building.
THE RIDE, a door-to-door transportation service provided by the MBTA, is available by appointment for persons with disabilities.
Also, a city-operated Senior Shuttle is available by appointment for residents to go to doctor¡¦s appointments and grocery shopping.
