Torre Unidad is a warm, welcoming community that offers a variety of living arrangements for low- and moderate-income elderly and disabled persons. Torre Unidad offers approximately 192 studio and one-bedroom apartments in an eighteen-story, elevator-equipped building located in the richly diverse South End community.
We offer many amenities for elderly and disabled individuals, which include emergency pull cords in the bedrooms and bathrooms as well as intercoms in every apartment. We have units that are handicap accessible and we may modify existing apartments based on Reasonable Accommodation requests.
Residents pay 30 percent of their income towards rent, prorated rent, or a predetermined flat rent.
Torre Unidad employs a professional management team that promptly responds to all resident needs in a timely manner. The staff includes:
- Manager
- Management Aide
- Resident Service Coordinator
- Resident Custodian
The BHA’s Elderly and Disabled Resident Service Coordinators have been trained to:
- perform need assessments and
make appropriate referrals for
services
- access services to enhance tenancy and independent life
- coordinate services for home
bound frail elderly/disabled
- help residents to access services
that enhance quality of life
- assist in crisis intervention with tenants at risk
- advocate and liaison with
management, family, health providers and community agencies.

Location |
Torre Unidad is located on West Dedham Street in the historic South End community of Boston. Our complex is very close to a wide variety of stores and services. Several neighborhood markets and restaurants are in the immediate area, as well as cultural venues such as the Boston Center for the Arts.
There are a number of churches in the area as well. Health care is available at the South End Community Health Center and the New England Medical Center.
Public transportation is accessible via buses that stop in the neighborhood. Torre Unidad is minutes from Downtown Boston, Chinatown and Dudley Station and is only a 10-minute walk to the Back Bay MBTA Station, which connects to the Commuter Rail.
THE RIDE, a door-to-door transportation service provided by the MBTA, is available by appointment for persons with disabilities.
Also, a city-operated Senior Shuttle is available by appointment for residents to go to doctor’s appointments and grocery shopping.
