Rockland Towers

Welcome to Rockland Towers
5300 Washington Street, West Roxbury
Welcome to Rockland Towers Apartments. We are pleased that you are considering our community for your future home.

Rockland Towers is a warm, welcoming community that offers a variety of living arrangements for low- and moderate-income elderly and disabled persons. Rockland Towers offers approximately 72 efficiency and one-bedroom apartments in a mid-rise, four-story building. Our complex is located in West Roxbury, on the Dedham border.

We offer many amenities for elderly and disabled individuals, which include emergency pull cords in the bedrooms and bathrooms as well as intercoms in every apartment. We have units that are handicap accessible and we may modify existing apartments based on Reasonable Accommodation requests.

Residents pay 30 percent of their income towards rent, prorated rent, or a predetermined flat rent.

Rockland Towers employs a professional management team that promptly responds to all resident needs in a timely manner. The staff includes:
  • Manager
  • Management Aide
  • Resident Service Coordinator
  • Two resident custodians


The BHA’s Elderly and Disabled Resident Service Coordinators have been trained to:
  • perform need assessments and make appropriate referrals for services
  • access services to enhance tenancy and independent life
  • coordinate services for home bound frail elderly/disabled
  • help residents to access services that enhance quality of life
  • assist in crisis intervention with tenants at risk
  • advocate and liaison with management, family, health providers and community agencies.

Location
Rockland Towers is located in West Roxbury, right on the Dedham border. A variety of shops and services are located in the surrounding community, including a restaurant across the street and a nearby Dunkin’ Donuts. There are a number of churches as well. Health care is available at Faulkner Hospital.

Public transportation is available a short distance away. MBTA buses provide transportation from the Forest Hills Station to Cleary Square, Mattapan and Roslindale Square.

THE RIDE, a door-to-door transportation service provided by the MBTA, is available by appointment for persons with disabilities.

Also, a city-operated Senior Shuttle is available by appointment for residents to go to doctor’s appointments and grocery shopping.

Programs and Amenities
We offer a wide range of amenities, programs, and services to help you feel at home. These include:
  • Regular activities such as annual holiday parties, shopping trips, weekly coffee hours and day trips
  • Air-conditioned community room with kitchen, laundry facilities and restrooms
  • Health screenings that provide eye exams, blood pressure screenings, health aide and homemaker services
  • Monthly meetings between manager and task force
  • BBQ pit with yard and benches
  • Resident parking
  • Library/activity room
  • New water fountain and fish pond outside
  • Quarterly Crime Watch Meetings
