Welcome to John J. Carroll Apartments. We are pleased that you are considering our community for your future home.
John J. Carroll is a warm, welcoming community that offers a variety of living arrangements for low- and moderate-income elderly and disabled persons. John J. Carroll offers approximately 64 one- and two-bedroom apartments in a garden-style environment. Our complex is small enough to have good friends among your neighbors, yet large enough to ensure privacy. We think that you will enjoy this cozy, pleasant community.
We offer many amenities for elderly and disabled individuals. Our units range from being fully equipped to modified to handicapped accessible..
Residents pay 30 percent of their income towards rent, prorated rent, or a predetermined flat rent.
John J. Carroll employs a professional management team that promptly responds to all resident needs in a timely manner. The staff includes:
- Management Aide
- Resident Service Coordinator
- Two resident custodians
The BHA’s Elderly and Disabled Resident Service Coordinators have been trained to:
- perform need assessments and
make appropriate referrals for
- access services to enhance tenancy and independent life
- coordinate services for home
bound frail elderly/disabled
- help residents to access services
that enhance quality of life
- assist in crisis intervention with tenants at risk
- advocate and liaison with
management, family, health providers and community agencies.
John J. Carroll is located just outside Brighton Center, close to many stores and services. There are many churches in the area as well.
Health care is available at the Brighton Marine Hospital on Warren Avenue and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital on Washington Street.
Public transportation is available at the front of the complex, with bus rides to Brighton Center and other destinations. Transportation is also provided to and from the supermarket and groceries are carried to residents’ doors.
THE RIDE, a door-to-door transportation service provided by the MBTA, is available by appointment for persons with disabilities.
Also, a city-operated Senior Shuttle is available by appointment for residents to go to doctor’s appointments and grocery shopping.
