Welcome to Heritage
209 Sumner Street, East Boston
Welcome to Heritage Apartments. We are pleased that you are considering our community for your future home.

Heritage is a warm, welcoming community that offers a variety of living arrangements for low- and moderate-income elderly and disabled persons. Heritage offers approximately 300 efficiency, one- and two-bedroom apartments in garden-style, elevator-equipped buildings. Our complex is ideally located directly on Boston Harbor with the breathtaking views of the city. Heritage is quite picturesque with apartment buildings surrounding courtyards, a fountain, and gardens.

We offer many amenities for elderly and disabled individuals, which include emergency pull cords in the bedrooms and bathrooms as well as intercoms in every apartment. We have units that are handicap accessible and we may modify existing apartments based on Reasonable Accommodation requests.

Residents pay 30 percent of their income towards rent, prorated rent, or a predetermined flat rent.

Heritage employs a professional management team that promptly responds to all resident needs in a timely manner. The staff includes:
  • Manager
  • Management Aide
  • Resident Service Coordinator
  • Two resident custodians

The BHA’s Elderly and Disabled Resident Service Coordinators have been trained to:
  • perform need assessments and make appropriate referrals for services
  • access services to enhance tenancy and independent life
  • coordinate services for home bound frail elderly/disabled
  • help residents to access services that enhance quality of life
  • assist in crisis intervention with tenants at risk
  • advocate and liaison with management, family, health providers and community agencies.
