Welcome to Groveland Apartments. We are pleased that you are considering our community for your future home.
Groveland is a small, welcoming community that offers a variety of living arrangements for low- and moderate-income elderly and disabled persons. Groveland offers approximately 64 efficiency and one-bedroom apartments in a unique two-story, garden-style building. Our complex is a quiet community set back from the street with nice lawns and trees for residents to enjoy.
We offer many amenities for elderly and disabled individuals, which include intercoms in every apartment. We have units that are handicap accessible and we may modify existing apartments based on Reasonable Accommodation requests.
Residents pay 30 percent of their income towards rent, prorated rent, or a predetermined flat rent.
Groveland employs a professional management team that promptly responds to all resident needs in a timely manner. The staff includes:
- Manager
- Management Aide
- Resident Service Coordinator
- Resident custodians
The BHA’s Elderly and Disabled Resident Service Coordinators have been trained to:
- perform need assessments and
make appropriate referrals for
services
- access services to enhance tenancy and independent life
- coordinate services for home
bound frail elderly/disabled
- help residents to access services
that enhance quality of life
- assist in crisis intervention with tenants at risk
- advocate and liaison with
management, family, health providers and community agencies.

Location |
Groveland is located in Mattapan near many stores, churches and hospitals. Just a ten-minute walk away is a shopping center with a Shaw’s and Bank of America. Many additional stores and restaurants are also nearby. There are many churches in the area as well.
Health care is available at Carney Hospital (one mile away) and the Mattapan Health Center. The Boston Specialty and
Rehabilitation Hospital is located right next door to our apartment complex.
Public transportation is available one block away. The River Street bus runs from Ashmont Station to Mattapan Station. Both are on the MBTA Red Line that provides access to Downtown Crossing, Cambridge and Braintree, as well as all other MBTA lines.
THE RIDE, a door-to-door transportation service provided by the MBTA, is available by appointment for persons with disabilities.
Also, a city-operated Senior Shuttle is available by appointment for residents to go to doctor’s appointments and grocery shopping.
