Welcome to Codman Square Apartments. We are pleased that you are considering our community for your future home.
Codman is a warm, welcoming community that offers a variety of living arrangements for low- and moderate-income elderly and disabled persons. Built in 1972, Codman is a seven-story, elevator-equipped building located just outside Codman Square. The complex offers approximately 98 efficiency, one- and two-bedroom apartments.
We offer many amenities for elderly and disabled individuals, which include emergency pull cords in the bedrooms and bathrooms as well as intercoms in every apartment. We have units that are handicap accessible and we may modify existing apartments based on Reasonable Accommodation requests.
Residents pay 30 percent of their income towards rent, prorated rent, or a predetermined flat rent.
Codman Apartments employs a professional management team that promptly responds to all resident needs in a timely manner. The staff includes:
- Manager
- Management Aide
- Resident Service Coordinator
- Two resident custodians
The BHA’s Elderly and Disabled Resident Service Coordinators have been trained to:
- perform need assessments and
make appropriate referrals for
services
- access services to enhance tenancy and independent life
- coordinate services for home
bound frail elderly/disabled
- help residents to access services
that enhance quality of life
- assist in crisis intervention with tenants at risk
- advocate and liaison with
management, family, health providers and community agencies.

Location |
Codman Apartments is conveniently located just outside Codman Square in Dorchester. Many businesses and services are located within walking distance. A YMCA is located next to the development. Health care is available nearby at the Codman Square Community Health Center.
Codman is easily reached by public transportation. An MBTA bus stops at the front of the building, taking passengers to stations on the MBTA Orange and Red lines. Buses also provide transportation to Codman Square area shopping.
THE RIDE, a door-to-door transportation service provided by the MBTA, is available by appointment for persons with disabilities.
Also, a city-operated Senior Shuttle is available by appointment for residents to go to doctor’s appointments and grocery shopping.

- 24-hour security guard coverage, seven days a week
- Protected parking area under building overhang
- Hot lunch served everyday in the community room
- Garden and patio area with a BBQ pit
- Air-conditioned community room with TV and VCR
- Supported Housing provided by Boston Senior Home Care and Visiting Nurses Association provides on-site case management, monthly fine dining once and nutrition seminars, as well as bellydancing and yoga classes
- Numerous resident activities, including exercise classes, arts and crafts and weekly coffee hours
- Laundry/trash rooms
- On-site voting
