Planning and Real Estate Development

The Planning and Real Estate Development Department is responsible for BHA’s redevelopment and leveraged financing programs, including HOPE VI projects, as well as several strategic planning and policy functions within the Authority. Other key roles of the department are 1) to enhance the BHA’s outreach and links to residents and the larger community, 2) to administer the BHA's Agency Plan process, and 3) to run the BHA's Energy and Water Conservation Program.

Real Estate staff are responsible for project management, urban planning and design, real estate finance, and oversight of developers, consultants, and contractors related to redevelopment projects (such as HOPE VI, West Broadway, Bickford, Infills and others). Planning staff are responsible to coordinate the Agency Plan submission, energy conservation initiatives, policy and program development within BHA, and other technical assistance to BHA departments. The Department frequently serves as the point of contact for grant partnerships as well as other collaborations with outside agencies and partners.
The Planning and Real Estate Development Department monitors The U.S. Housing and Urban Department website for recently released rules and regulations that affect the operation of the BHA. The HUDCLIPS allows access to the most recent two weeks of Federal Register Notices.
