Invitation for Bids – BHA Job #07-009C
The Boston Housing Authority (BHA) invites sealed bids from general contractors for Roof Replacement & Penthouse Egress at Camden Development in Boston, MA, in accordance with the documents prepared by Arnold Jacobson Associates, Inc. The Project consists of replacing existing built up roofing and installing egress walkways across roofs. The work is estimated to cost $600,000.00. General bidders must be certified by the Division of Capital Asset Management in the following category of work: Roofing. Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.149 §44A-J and to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.149 §§26 to 27H inclusive.
General Bids will be received until 11:00 AM 4/30/08 and publicly opened, forthwith. Filed Sub-Bids for the trades listed below will be received until 11:30 AM 4/23/08 and publicly opened forthwith. All bids will be received and opened at the BHA, 52 Chauncy Street - 6th Fl., Boston, MA 02111. Mailed bids should be sent to this address and received no later than the date and time specified above.
SUBTRADES Electrical - Section 16000
General bids and sub-bids shall be accompanied by a bid deposit that is not Iess than five (5%) of the greatest possible bid amount (considering all alternates), and made payable to the Boston Housing Authority. Bid Forms and Contract Documents will be available for pick-up at the above address after 10:00 a.m., on 4/9/08 upon deposit of a check or money order (no cash) in the amount of $50.00 per set, payable to the Boston Housing Authority. This deposit will be refunded for one set upon return of the set in good condition within thirty days of receipt of general bids. Otherwise the deposit shall be the property of the Awarding Authority. Additional sets maybe purchased for $50.00. Bidders requesting Contract Documents to be mailed to them shall include a separate check for $ 15.00 per set, payable to the BHA, to cover mail-handling costs.
General bidders must agree to contract with minority and women-owned businesses as certified by the State Office of Minority and Women Business Assistance (SOMWBA). The amount of participation which shall be reserved for such enterprises shall not be less than seventeen (17 %) percent of the final contract price, including accepted alternates, of which at least twelve (12 %) percent shall be for minority business enterprises and five (5 %) percent shall be reserved for women-owned business enterprises.
There will be a site inspection at 9:00 AM 4/16/08 at Camden Development (parking lot) 36 Lenox Street, Boston, MA.
