IFB #01P-017 Elevator Maintenance at Central Office & Other Sites

Bids will be received and publicly opened and read aloud at the Authority's Contract Office Conference Room at 52 Chauncy Street, 6th Floor, Boston, Massachusetts, immediately following the times specified below.

The work includes: Elevator Maintenance and Repair. The work is estimated at $180,000. Bids must be received before the times listed below to be considered.

General bids will be received until 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 18, 2001.

Category of work for which the general bidder must be certified: Elevators.

Contract Documents will be available for pick-up at the Boston Housing Authority, Contract Office, 52 Chauncy Street, 6th Floor, Boston, MA 02111 after 10:00 a.m., Wednesday April 4, 2001.

General bids must be accompanied by a copy of a Division of Capital Planning and Operations certificate of eligibility (CQ-7) and by an update statement (CQ-3). Bid forms and forms for update statement and contractor qualification statements may be obtained, without charge, from the Authority at the BHA Contract Office, 52 Chauncy Street, 6th Floor, Boston, MA 02111. If mailed, bids should be sent to the same address. All bids must be accompanied by a bid deposit in an amount that is not less than five percent (5%) of the value of the bid, including all add alternates. Bid deposits, payable to the Boston Housing Authority, shall be either in the form of a bid bond, or cash, or a certified check on, or a treasurer's or cashier's check issued by, a responsible bank or trust company.

All bids are subject to the provisions of MGL Chapter 149, Sections 44A-J, inclusive. Wages are subject to minimum wage rates determined by the Secretary of the United States Department of Labor. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond and a Labor and Materials Bond. All general bidders and sub-bidders are required to comply with the BHA's Minority Women Participation Provision ("MWPP")and Resident Employment Provision ("REP") which incorporates the Section 3 Clause of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968. The requirements of the MWPP and REP are summarized in the Boston Housing Authority's Minority and Women Participation Requirements and Resident Hiring and Contracting Requirements, respectively. Contract Documents may be obtained at the Authority's Contract Office, 52 Chauncy Street, 6th Floor, upon deposit of a certified, treasurer's, or cashier's check for $50.00 a set, payable to The Boston Housing Authority. This deposit will be refunded for the set for each bidder upon return of the set in good condition within thirty (30) calendar days after the opening of general bids. Otherwise, the deposit shall become the property of the Boston Housing Authority. Additional sets may be purchased at the same office for $50.00 (non-refundable).

Bidders requesting that Contract Documents be mailed to them shall include a separate treasurer's or cashier's check in the amount of $15.00 for each set, payable to The Boston Housing Authority, to cover mailing and handling costs.

All bids must be signed and dated; if a joint venture is submitting the bid, each joint venturer must sign the bid. Late bids will be handled in accordance with Instructions to Bidders for Contracts.

A site visit for all bidders has been scheduled for 9:00 a.m., Wednesday April 11, 2001. The site visit will begin at the front lobby of the Central Office located at 52 Chauncy Street, Boston, MA. All bidders are encouraged to attend the site visit.
